Oki (Blackfoot Greeting),
On behalf of the Son's Nation of the Western Reserve Native Sons and Daughters I wanted to reach out to the Big and Little Braves and sadly announce that after much deliberation the Longhouse officers, in conjunction with Camp Kon O Kwee have cancelled this years spring camp.
Our Sachem - Tom "Big Cheetah" Wynne is working with the camp in order to secure a weekend for next spring. At this time we are waiting to hear back from them as to options for Spring of 2021.
The Longhouse officers thought first of the health and safety of our membership, it was a difficult decision, but one that was made after discussing the situation with contacts in Pennsylvania as well as considering current policies and practices in place by both the State of Ohio and Pennsylvania Governments.
In this time off, we would encourage that each tribe hold some type of virtual event. Think of hosting a Zoom Tribe Meeting, or have one of the little braves set up a Google Hang Out, or just check in with each other through a group chat. Tribe Chiefs we encourage you to send out some type of at home activity that membership can do and then share with the tribe, in this time of isolation it is more important than ever to remember that we are in this together.
As a longhouse we are currently working on some type of virtual activity and we hope to have something out there in the next few weeks.
